IRO-65 is a strong flotation frother made from polymer polyglycol. This product is a strong frother and has many applications, especially in cases where the mineral formation is difficult to float and the use of a frother may be required. This product retains its selectivity (absorption of mineral materials), and this is a property that should be present in synthetic foams. It can be compared to AERO65 in application.
IRO-65 can be used with MIBC, MIBC-F, and PINE80A frothers to increase selectivity and material recovery. IRO-65 is recommended for use when a frother with a high degree of selectivity and recovery is required. In addition, when there is a wide range of materials to be floated from fine to coarse particles, this product is recommended. Although this product is primarily used in alkaline flotation, this product can be used in both acid and alkaline flotation systems with a pH of 3.5 to 12.5. IRO-65 is water-soluble and can be diluted in projects requiring strict foam control. This product is stable under normal storage conditions.
Three variables that exist in the application of IRO-65 are the amount consumed, the time of consumption, and the frequency of consumption. The amount of frother consumption varies from one operation to another and is largely dependent on the type of ore, particle size, and water type. Although the amount consumed varies from 5 to 50 grams per ton, the normal amount consumed is 5 to 25 grams per ton.
Due to the hydrophilic nature of IRO-65, adding it to a flotation circuit without pouring is usually sufficient for most operations. In some cases, adding it in stages may be economical and reducing its consumption may be effective.
Experimental work will determine the best method.
